Wikimedia UK: the UK chapter of the Wikimedia movement
Wikimedia UK is an independent charity and the official UK chapter of the global Wikimedia movement.
We are one of many independent chapters, thematic organisations and user groups working alongside the Wikimedia Foundation and each other to support the movement’s mission worldwide.

UK chapter and independent charity
- Works with communities and partners across the UK
- Supports education, culture, heritage, climate, policy and open knowledge
- Raises funds in the UK to support our programmes
- Advocates for open knowledge and real-world impact locally and nationally
Global non-profit organisation
- Hosts and develops Wikimedia projects including Wikipedia
- Builds technology and tools that power the projects
- Protects the integrity, security and openness of the projects
- Supports the global movement through grants and coordination
